This George Chappell designed home includes many significant historic details including: mahogany trims, ornate white-oak fireplace front, and unique vaulted rooms. We immediately fell in love with the almost overwhelmingly ornate parlor floor which gave us a clear directive. Our vision is to restore with a blend of simple, contemporary materials which complement the historic architecture and detailing.
The layout of the home is currently conducive to a single-family arrangement. As part of the project the home will be re-imagined as a two-family building in a double duplex configuration. Renovation of the home comes with responsibility. A delicate touch is required. This project required us to be caretakers; allowing others to be inspired as we have been.
The design of the lower duplex touches as lightly as possible the overwhelming ornate parlor floor. Living, Dining, and kitchen programs are located on the parlor floor with bedrooms located on the garden level.
